Riva Rock Star: Meet Pedro Climaco, Technical Consultant and Pre-sales – EMEA

Tell us a little about yourself

I was born in Brazil, from Portuguese parents, and grew up living between South America and Europe.

My first job was as a Military Police Officer, and after that I studied Systems Development (Computer Science) at the Polytechnic University of Campinas, in Sao Paulo, and started working as an intern in software development at IBM, with Lotus Notes.

A few job changes and countries later, I immigrated to Canada through a federal program for skilled workers and settled in Alberta; where I eventually joined the Riva team.

My role was on the Cloud Operations team, where I had the opportunity to work on the server side of Riva Cloud infrastructure and also do some Amazon Web Services (AWS) development.

I recently moved to the EMEA team, based in Munich, as Technical Consultant and Pre-sales. In my new role I am responsible for attending events and shows, hosting demo sessions, working with prospects, supporting customers, Riva deployments, troubleshooting, and more.

Give us a little more insight into Pedro…

If you had to be trapped in a television show for a month, which show would you choose?
Game of Thrones (hopefully I would not get killed on that episode, lol).

If you could have any one skill or talent that you don’t already possess, what would it be and why?
Speak German fluently, it would make life much easier.

If you could do any job in the world for one day, what would it be?
I would like to be on the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

If you could live in any period of history, when would it be and why?
Ancient Greece – I was always interested in the architecture and thinking that started in that period.

What’s rocking your world this month?
A major client migration from Riva On-Premise to Riva Cloud, which was successfully completed with the help of my good friend Shawn MacRae, from the Riva Operations Team.

Also I’m attending two events this month, CRM Saturday in Italy, and Cloud Expo Europe in Frankfurt, with my great colleagues Martina Eder and Corinna Schmeykal. It’s a very busy month but it has been fun!

Riva and our customers are very lucky to have Pedro. He is truly an asset to the Riva EMEA team!
