Riva On-Premise 2.4.40 release delivers new features and enhancements!

After several months of development and testing, I’m pleased to announce that the Riva On-Premise 2.4.40 release is now available! Below are the three major release announcements and details on the additional enhancements and benefits of our latest release.

Major release announcements

Riva On-Premise for Google Apps now available

In addition to our existing integrations with Exchange, Office 365, IBM Notes, and GroupWise, we are very pleased to announce our newest integration with Google Apps. Riva can provide full impersonation sync for Google for Work and Google for Education subscriptions. This offers a reliable sync solution to those corporate, not-for-profit, and education organizations that use the Google Apps ecosystem for email, tasks, calendars, and contacts.

Riva On-Premise for SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer (C4C)

In addition to Google Apps, we have also added SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer (C4C) as a supported CRM platform for Riva On-Premise. Riva can now sync data between SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer (C4C) and Exchange, IBM Notes, Google Apps, and GroupWise.

Faster sync cycle completion times

Riva now offers a 64-bit sync service. By switching to 64-bit services, Riva can now take advantage of the additional system resources that 64-bit Windows servers can make available, resulting in a much more stable and efficient Riva server. Riva will be able to handle greater loads resulting in more users syncing concurrently and faster sync cycle completion times.

Note: The 64-bit version is only recommended for deployments of more than 4,000 users.

Enhancements – what’s been improved?

We are pleased to bring you four major enhancements in this new release:

Improved user management options and re-initialization procedures

The Riva sync policy Sync Start Time page has been modified to now include a toolbar with several new user management options like setting re-initialization options, renaming the user, and clearing the next sync time.


More re-initialization options have been added and a new procedure has been developed to assign re-initialization options. Once completed, users are listed showing exactly which re-initialization options are waiting to be processed during the next sync cycle.


These changes will make it easier for Riva administrators to resolve individual user sync issues. We even published a new Knowledge Base article that explains all of the changes.


Modified list of Riva connections

We’ve added the following new connection wizards to
the Riva Manager application in the Setup section:

  • SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer (C4C)
  • Exchange 2013 and 2016
  • Google (supports Enterprise Google Apps

To make it easier for Riva administrators to locate
and launch the correct connection wizard, we’ve
renamed the following CRM and email connections
to match current vendor brand names:

  • 1CRM (formerly info@hand)
  • Infor CRM (formerly SalesLogix)
  • Oracle Sales Cloud (formerly Oracle Sales
  • IBM Notes connection (formerly Lotus Notes)

Additional contact handling options

Riva sync policies now include additional contact handling options:


Dupe Detection options allow the Riva administrator to define if Riva is syncing new email contacts to the CRM and will check to see if a matching contact already exists in the CRM. If a matching contact already exists, it will define how to handle that condition.

Configure Required Fields provides another filtering option for Riva administrators. The filter can define that specific email contact fields like ‘First name’ and ‘Last Name” must contain a value, otherwise Riva will skip syncing the new contact to the CRM.

Advanced Flow Control provides the Riva administrator with an easy way to control how Riva will sync contacts if created, modified, or deleted in the CRM or in the user’s email account.

Automatically remove email drop folders from user mailboxes

Previously, if a Riva administrator modified a sync policy and unchecked a module in the Other page, or selected one of the Hide a – Create New email drop folder option in the SmartConvert processing options, Riva would not remove those email drop folders from the user mailboxes. With this release, Riva will now sync the removal of unwanted email drop folders and automatically clean up the user mailbox. Thanks to the Riva customer who suggested this enhancement!

Things to know about

So we discussed the major changes in this release, but we also want to pass along a couple of advisory notices:

Sugar 7 has dropped support for CRM recurring events

Earlier versions of Sugar included an ability to create recurring calendar events which Riva would sync to the user mailboxes. With this change, Riva will no longer sync recurring events from CRM to email. This does not change the support for syncing of recurring appointments or meetings from email to the CRM. Salesforce will need TLS 1.1 or higher in January 2016

Effective January 1, 2016, Salesforce will require TLS 1.1+ security. This requires a minimum of .NET 4.5 which can only be installed on Windows 2008 R2 or higher. Riva for Salesforce clients with Riva hosted on earlier versions of Windows server or desktop need to move their Rive On-Premise installations to a supported Windows server platform.
