Getting started – Salesforce integration for the iPad

Need to sync Salesforce contact and calendar information to the native address book and calendar applications on your iPad? Riva delivers server-side synchronization of Salesforce accounts, contacts, leads, appointments, meetings, phone calls, tasks, opportunities, cases, quotes and custom Salesforce objects to the iPad. Take full advantage of the iPad’s large screen and integration with the iPad’s native applications and functionality.

With Riva, there are no additional Salesforce plug-ins or mobile applications to install on your iPad for synchronization to occur. Riva is compatible with Salesforce Professional, Enterprise and Unlimited and either hosted or on-premise Microsoft Exchange or Novell GroupWise mail systems. Prior to working through the steps below, you will need to install and configure Riva Integration Server (or set up a Riva Live account). Please refer to the Riva Documentation and Videos section for more information.

Sync Salesforce contacts to the iPad address book

Riva automatically syncs Salesforce contacts, accounts and leads to your iPad’s native address book. This allows you to take advantage of the iPad’s large screen size and native interactivity – rather than trying to view and work with Salesforce contact information from a browser.

Sync Salesforce calendar data to the iPad calendar

Riva syncs Salesforce appointments, meetings, phone calls and tasks to the iPad’s native calendar application. Create new appointments or modify existing calendar items on your iPad and they will get synchronized automatically up to Salesforce (or vice versa).

Manage Salesforce opportunities, cases and quotes directly from your mobile device

Riva goes beyond Salesforce Mobile plug-ins for iPad by allowing you to view and manage Salesforce opportunities, cases and quotes directly from the iPad in connected or airplane (disconnected) modes. Select the “Opportunities” folder on your iPad to see email summaries of your recent Salesforce opportunities.

Next, you can select the “Review” or “Edit” buttons from the Riva ConnectBar to open the opportunity directly in Salesforce on your iPad.

Riva SmartConvert and AssignTo Folders on your iPad

Riva introduces powerful automation features that reduce manual data entry and give salespeople more strategic selling time.

In the screenshot below, for example, you will notice that Riva adds a series of Salesforce folders. By clicking on the Cases, Opportunities or Quotes folder, you will see an email summary of your most recent Salesforce cases, opportunities and quotes.

By copying an email into the “Create New Email” Riva SmartConvert folder, Riva will automatically archive the email against the appropriate account and contact(s). If an associated account (based on the domain) and contacts (based on the recipients of the email) are not already entered into Salesforce, Riva will do this automatically.

There is also a Riva SmartConvert Folder available to create new Salesforce opportunities, cases and quotes. Simply copy the email to the “Create New Opportunity” folder and Riva will work its magic!

Use Riva AssignTo Folders to archive emails against Salesforce accounts, contacts, opportunities, cases or quotes. Move (copy) emails into the “Create New Opportunity” folder and Riva will automatically create the account, contact(s) and opportunity in the Salesforce and sync the information back down to your iPad. Riva SmartConvert saves salespeople 5-7 minutes per converted email.

View the Riva Live Monitor on your iPad

Riva is available in both on-premise and hosted, SaaaS editions. Riva Live is our hosted service. If your company is already running Salesforce and Exchange in the cloud, Riva Live is an ideal complement. Or, if let’s say your Salesforce users need to integrate to Mac systems, you can use Riva Live instead of having to install Riva Integration Server on a Windows server.
